Students’ Voices

“I travelled around Latin America while studying full-time remotely, and the two ended up complementing each other really well! I spoke to a carnival bloco in Rio about protest and a biologist at Mexico City's zoo about axolotls; and I made a documentary about sport and social change in Chile. The biggest thing I learnt is that people are open to telling you their stories if you ask, and that those stories, especially from the Global South, deserve far more space in the media than they get”.

— Milly (MA Photojournalism, Documentary & Global Justice)

"I thoroughly enjoyed my MA. It gave me key insights into the journalistic world and what a newsroom looks like, and it strengthened my writing, storytelling, and newsgathering skills. I learnt how to handle an immense amount of data and how to verify a random picture posted on X using OSINT. Above all, it introduced me to many inspiring people and opened up academic and professional possibilities that had never even crossed my mind before. Studying online felt daunting at first, but ended up being a great choice for me. It allowed me to keep living in Switzerland and continue working while following the modules and I never felt left out of the classes or the wider experience”.

— Chiara (MA Global Data Journalism)

“I moved to London to start the MA in Global Journalism and… what an experience! I won’t lie, not everything was easy, but this year taught me to put myself out there, embrace challenges and step outside my comfort zone. You never know what comes next, and that’s the beauty of it: from data journalism and photojournalism to interviews and investigative reporting, this journey has taught me to stay curious, ask questions and believe in the difference we can make together by telling stories that truly matter”.

— Marta (MA Global Journalism)
